You know those twirly writing codes used to verify
things you do on the internet to make sure that you’re human? Well, I suck at them. The code in the picture above is fairly easy, but most have numbers and much more twirliness than this one, and I usually get them wrong. I recently failed a few of these codes in a row which unlocked another level of verification tests (looking at random photos of my Facebook friends and naming the circled person). Although I enjoyed this game (it seriously should be an app!), I do find the fact that I'm quite possibly a robot somewhat disconcerting.
Every time I have to do one of these I think of you now :)
ReplyDeleteI'm a robot too! Sometimes they are so hard I don't know how anyone can do them and other times I'm so sure I got it right and I still fail! I know I'm going to have to do one to get this comment through and I'm already nervous.
ReplyDeleteIt's so disappointing getting it wrong when you're so sure you were right! I feel very loved knowing you still comment despite the stress! Thank you. I wonder if I can switch it off? I'll go check now...
DeleteI also suck at those. And the maths ones. Really, I'm CAPTCHA-challenged.
ReplyDeleteI hear, however, that soon CAPTCHAs are going to have to become smarter as computers get smarter; there's talk of new CAPTCHAs being things like images you have to turn the right way up.
I freaked out when you said they'd have to become smarter (they're already far more intelligent than I am), but turning an image around the right way seems like something I should be able to do. But then I'd have thought that recognising numbers and letters would be a fairly simple task too - aaaargh!
DeleteWow, I was going to write about this aswell. I'm totally a droid. I hate those dopey things, and always get them wrong.
ReplyDeleteMany of my generous, kind hearted comments have been lost in the ether because I gave up trying to prove my humanity.
